December 31 New Year's Eve

We went to Jaleo for New Year's Eve.  All the tapas we could dream about for a fixed price.  Pile on top of that a mean sangria and cava and well, needless to say, we over did it.

They had a dj and we expected to dance.  But no one was dancing.  Stupid old people.  As the night went on I was getting ants in my pants so we got up to dance all by ourselves.  It took two tries but we finally got people going around 11:30.

The Spanish tradition is to eat 12 grapes at midnight, one for each chime, to get your wish.  I managed to stuff them in and gulp them down and then I thought, man, I need to try that hotdog eating contest.

Matt made me take the metro to Penn Quarter.  On the ride down, everyone was so nice and fresh.  The train ride home was very different.  The cars were packed with very drunk people, some not looking quite so good.  They were all trying to pretend they were not drunk but the eyes show it in detail.  You cannot hide that bleary red eyed stare.  Thank goodness no one puked on our train (Although I did see someone throwing up as we waited on the platform.  Nice.  I am sure his girlfriend was thrilled.)

Anyway, so long 2011.  Good riddance.
