December 1 - Lincoln

Well, Lincoln is dead.  I finally read Team of Rivals and no matter how many books I read about Lincoln, the story always ends the same.  It is hard not to believe that he really was the greatest President we ever had and perhaps one of the most extraordinary people to have lived.  What I find most interesting is how so  few people had anything bad to say about him.  No matter if they agreed with him or not, they still liked him and admired him.  You can argue that since he was killed no one would ever speak up.  But you would think that with so much study, someone somewhere would turn up someone who thought he was less than a great man.  Setting aside McClellan, who was a putz, and that is my own historical analysis, really no one had anything bad to say.
